The Delaware County Kennel Cub is an organization of purebred dog fanciers involved in various activities, such as:
* Advancing the study, breeding, exhibiting, and care of purebred dogs through public service and education
* Promoting and protecting AKC breeds and AKC dog activities in Pennsylvania and the surrounding areas by working with legislators and local community leaders as a resource on dog-related issues
* Participating in community activities to help educate the general public on all aspects of responsible dog ownership and the sport of purebred dogs
* Hosting annual sanctioned events and competitions that welcome AKC breeds
The Delaware County Kennel Club is very community oriented. We have donated firt aid kits to the PA State Police, armored vests to local police departments for their K-9 companions, oxygen masks to local fire and rescue departments to be used on animals suffering from smoke inhalation, and money to our local SPCA for use in caring for rescued animals.
Delaware County Kennel Club has a calendar full of events, including the March AKC Dog Show and Obedience Trial, a March and April AKC Agility Trial, a September Match Show, show handling classes open to the public, and club meetings to which the public is invited and which often feature educational programs. Club members are also involved with Therapy visits with their dogs at local Nursing Homes and Hospitals.
On March 17, 2008 the AKC awarded the Delaware County Kennel Club the Community Achievement Award for our community activities.

The Pennsylvania Federation of Dog Clubs named the Delaware County Kennel Club as the "Outstanding Club of the Year for 2005" because of our community activities.
